Robert Uriah Blakeley
Mr. Robert Uriah Blakeley, 73, of Howardtown Circle, Mocksville, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.
Mr. Blakeley was born in Davie County, Jan. 19, 1934, to the late Horace and Thelma Thompson Blakeley. He was retired from Johnson Controls in Winston-Salem, had been with Spaugh Transit Mix; was a farmer and a livestock dealer. Mr. Blakeley was a member of the Elbaville United Methodist Church where he was a certified Lay Speaker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Piedmont Tractor Club, member and former secretary of the Advance Masonic Lodge and Winston-Salem Shriners. He enjoyed bluegrass music and playing the guitar and traveling, especially to British Colombia.
Survivors: his wife, Joann Frye Blakeley; 2 daughters, Susan (Dan) Anderson and Cathy Speight, all of Mocksville; 2 granddaughters; 2 sisters, Geraldine (Craig) Carter of Advance and Nancy (Gene) Harris of Mocksville; 4 brothers, Kenneth Blakeley of Winston-Salem, D.C. (Betty) Blakeley, Allen (Ann) Blakely, all of Mocksville and Jimmy (Juanita) Blakeley of Advance; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Wesley Howard Jr. of Mocksville.
A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, in Eaton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Karl Kelley officiating. Burial followed in Dulin United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends Dec. 21, at the funeral home.

Judy Kay Ramey
Mrs. Judy Kay Anderson Ramey, 57, of Fred Lanier Road, Mocksville, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
She was born July 11, 1950, in Iredell County. Mrs. Ramey was employed by the Forsyth County School system at Clemmons Elementary School. She attended Jonestown Baptist Church in Clemmons. Mrs. Ramey was a Notary Public and member of National Educators Association. She enjoyed collecting cookie jars, antique pottery and spending quality time with her grandson, Robert Alexander Ramey.
Mrs. Ramey was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Alonzo Lee and Tallie Irene Peoples; paternal grandparents, Ben Franklin and Eula Bell Anderson; and a great-granddaughter, Norah Walters.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Renn Ramey of the home; her mother, Frances Farmer of Mocksville; her father, Gerald (Mildred) Anderson of Mocksville; two daughters, Tierney Sue Ramey and Pegi Carol Ramey (Emanuel) Walters, all of Winston-Salem; a son, Robert Lance Ramey of Mocksville; two sisters, Sheila (Dean) Souffrant of Charlotte and Theresa (Tim) Floyd of Winston-Salem; a brother, Dana (Donna) Anderson of Mackenzie, Pa.; a grandson, Robert Alexander Ramey; four great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Malcolm, Honesty and Akejah Walters; an aunt, Ruby (Nick) Stevens of Winston-Salem; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Ijames Crossroads Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ken Furches officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the service. The family requests that memorials be considered for Forsyth Regional Cancer Center, 1010 Bethesda Court, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Eaton Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Ramey.
Judy Hamilton Card
Mrs. Judy Hamilton Card, 67, of NC 801 South, Mocksville, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
She was born Nov. 27, 1940, in Davie County to the late Richard Leo and Beulah Ball Hamilton. Mrs. Card was retired from Lexington Health Care. She was a charter member of Freedom Baptist Church. Mrs. Card was a member of the Davie Senior chorus.
Survivors: her husband, Richard “Dick” Card of the home; a daughter, Danette (Greg) Dunn of Advance; a son, Keith (Mary) Godbey of Rocky Point; 6 stepchildren, Frank (Penny) Godbey, Paulette Bradford, all of Lexington, Joanne Godbey of Georgia, Gerald (Betsy) Card of Olivette, Mich., Marty (Dennis) Link of Mocksville and Jennifer White of Pulaski, Va.; 2 sisters, Peggy (William) Carter of Advance and Lois (Wayne) Green of Mocksville; a brother, Wayne (Phyllis) Hamilton of Advance; 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Freedom Baptist Church, with the Rev. William Pryor, Preachers Scott Jackson and Jason Wisecarver officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Dec. 20, at Eaton Funeral Home.

Rev. Tommy Church
The Rev. Tommy Church, 91, of Wall Street, Cooleemee, died on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at his home.
Born in Grundy, Va., on June 27, 1916, he was the son of the late George and Martha Smith Church. In his earlier years, he had been a coal miner, was retired from Hall Manufacturing Co., and had been a Baptist minister for 55 years. On April 28, 1938, he married Edith Boyd Church, who survives.
Also surviving: a daughter, Delois Church Cranfield of Woodleaf; 9 sons, Ronnie Church, David Church, Donald Church and Jimmy Church, all of Cooleemee, Danny Church of Mocksville, Roger Church of Spencer, Billy Church of Cleveland, Junior Church of Holden Beach, S.C. and Gary Church of Salisbury; a brother, William Taylor Church of Cleveland; a sister, Cordella Hodgin of Greensboro; 47 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Church was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Church Williard, 2 sons, Kelly Church and Palmer Church, 2 brothers, Russell and John Henry Church. and 2 sisters, Mary Chattin and Leodia Gibson.
The service to celebrate the Rev. Church’s life was held on Saturday, Dec. 22, at 11 a. m. at Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Clyde Settle officiating. Burial was in Legion Memorial Park. The family received friends on Friday, Dec. 21 at Davie Funeral Service.
