Angela Strader Brown
Angela Strader Brown, 34, of Yadkin Street, Cooleemee, died on Thursday, May 10, 2007, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born on June 17, 1972, in Greensboro, to Bill and Edith Strader.
Survivors: her mother Edith S. (Bruce) Isaac of Cooleemee; her father, Bill (Estle) Strader of Reidsville; a brother Brandon (Tasha) Strader of Elon; a nephew and niece; her grandmother, Juanita G. Ward of Mocksville; a daughter, Breanna; her cat, Gabby; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 12, at 4 p.m. at the North Main Street Church of Christ in Mocksville with Claude Parr officiating.
Jerry Wayne Cartner
Jerry Wayne Cartner, 63, of the Jericho Community in Mocksville, died Sunday, May 13, 2007, after several months of declining health.
Mr. Cartner was born in Harmony to the late James Coyte and Mary Sharpe Coble Cartner. He was a graduate of Harmony High School Class of 1962, and from Kings College. Mr. Cartner was a devoted member of Jericho Church of Christ. He lived his life to the fullest with full and abiding faith. As a lifelong sports enthusiast, Mr. Cartner supported athletes on every level and sport, from local schools and little leagues to his beloved UNC Tar Heels. Widely traveling the back roads of Davie and surrounding counties, he was well versed in the location of ball fields and eateries. He rarely met a stranger and greeted each day with a positive outlook and unwavering spirit.
Survivors: his daughter, Laura; a brother, Jimmy (Shelby) Cartner of Harmony; and many friends near and far. He enjoyed his faithful black lab companion, Jasper.
A celebration of his life was conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Jericho Church of Christ. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation with family was in the church fellowship hall following the burial.

Ursula Cornatzer Beck
Mrs. Ursula Cornatzer Beck of Lewisville died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
She was born in Davie County to Bob and Jessie McCullough Cornatzer. Mrs. Beck retired from P.H. Hanes Knitting Co. and was a member of Lewisville United Methodist Church.
Survivors: her husband, John H. Beck of the home; a daughter, Lynda Delph and husband John Gordon Delph of Fort Mill, S.C.; and 2 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lewisville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Charles Turner. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be private.

Clyde William Goforth
Clyde William Goforth, 84, of Cora Jolly Lane, Mocksville, died on Saturday, May 12, 2007, at Genesis Health Care of Salisbury.
Born in Iredell County on Jan. 19, 1923, he was the son of the late Thomas C. and Eulala Seles Goforth. He was a retired commercial truck driver and attended Calvary Baptist Church. On July 3, 1945, he married Callie Cape Goforth, who preceded him in death on Feb. 25, 2005.
Survivors: 4 sons, Clyde E. (Doris) Goforth of Spencer, Jimmy W. Goforth of Mt. Airy, Donald R. (Alice) Goforth of Mocksville, and Roger L. (Debbie) Goforth of Gold Hill; 3 daughters, Barbara A. (Randy) McDaniel of Mocksville, Betty J. (Larry) Fortune of Salisbury and Linda S. (Donald) Sparks of Mocksville; a sister, Jettia Swearingen of Concord; 15 grandchildren; 32, great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Goforth was also preceded in death by a son, Junior Goforth, a daughter, Cathleen Goforth, 2 brothers, George and Beauford Goforth and 3 sisters, Sally Penninger, Nora Salmons, and Leunia Casper.
A service to celebrate Mr. Goforths life was held Tuesday, May 15, at 11 a.m. at the Davie Funeral Service Chapel with Revs. Darrell Cox and James Gryder and Brother Rex Poddunavac officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends on Monday, May 14 at Davie Funeral Service.
Robert Lee Deters
Mr. Robert Lee Deters, (USAF Retired), 66, of Mocksville, died Monday, May 14, 2007 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
He was born July 12, 1940 in Fremont, Mich. to Daniel and June Frens Deters. He served 20 years in the US Air Force as a medic retiring February 1980 at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, Ill. He also served as an orthopedic technician at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall, Mich. for 24 years, retiring Dec. 31, 2005. He regularly visited the Farmington Senior Center.
Surviving: his wife, Ruth Cumings Deters; 4 sons, Terrance Deters of Michigan, Timothy (Patricia) Deters, Anthony (Mely) Deters and Jason Deters, all of North Carolina; 2 daughters, Renee Potter and Roxanne (Craig) Artis, all of Michigan; 24 grandchildren; 5 brothers and 2 sisters, all of Michigan.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 18 at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Craddock officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Medford Alton Foster
Mr. Medford Alton Foster, 57, of NC 801 South, Mocksville, died Thursday, May 10, 2007, at his home.
Mr. Foster was born Aug. 7, 1949, in Davie County to the late Hubert Lawrence and Hazel Rebecca Swicegood Foster. He was employed by Chandler Concrete & Building Supply. Mr. Foster was member of Liberty United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and was a member of the United Methodist Men. He was one of the commissioners who helped incorporate the town of Cooleemee. Mr. Foster was a long-time member of the South Davie Ruritan. He loved to play golf and enjoyed helping others in whatever way he could. Mr. Foster enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Mountainview Lake Estates and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband and father.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Mitchell Foster.
Survivors: his wife of 29 years, Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Webb Foster of the home; 2 daughters, Alisha (Kevin) Curtiss of Mocksville and Janlyn (Eric) Dickson of Choctaw, Okla.; a brother, Kenny Foster of Sparta; 5 grandchildren; many aunts and uncles; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service was conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 13, at Liberty United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Karen Roberts officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. The family received friends on Sunday, May 13, at the church. T

Joe Cecil McDaniel
Mr. Joe Cecil McDaniel, 76, of Winston-Salem, died Thursday morning, May 10, 2007 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
Mr. McDaniel was born on Dec. 12, 1930 in Mocksville to the late W.H. and Sally Leonard McDaniel. Mr. McDaniel was married to Janet Bivins McDaniel for 53 years, who died Dec. 22, 2005. Mr. McDaniel attended Samaritan Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, was employed by AT&T, and was a veteran.
Survivors: a daughter, Dena Albright of Winston-Salem; 2 sons, Michael McDaniel and wife Jane of Winston-Salem and Keith McDaniel and wife Billie of King; 4 sisters, Ruth Wilkins and husband Howard of Monroe, Doris Gaither and husband Bob of Winston-Salem, Betty Wright and husband Bill of Pfafftown, and Loraine Blackwood and husband Bob of Cooleemee; a brother, Frank McDaniel of Atlanta, Ga.; one grandchild; and many friends and neighbors.
A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Samaritan Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Smith officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with the VFW Memorial Honor Guard providing military honors. Visitation was from 1-3 prior to the service at the church.

James Doss Sprinkle
James Doss Sprinkle, 62, of US 158, Mocksville, died on Monday, May 7, at his residence.
Born in Surry County on Aug. 4, 1944, he was the son of the late James Paul and Lottie Ethel Childress Sprinkle. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith and was last employed at Southeast Lumber in Kernersville.
Survivors: a son, James Paul “JP” Sprinkle of Mocksville.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Sprinkle was held Friday, May 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Davie Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. John Stephens officiating. The family received friends on Friday at the funeral home. Burial was at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at the Whitakers Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery in Pilot Mountain.
John Frank Ferebee
John Frank Ferebee, 58, of Angell Road, Mocksville, died on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Born in Davie County on Dec/ 8, 1948, he was the son of the late John Monroe and Mary Evelyn Safley Ferebee. He was a crop consultant and was a member of Eatons Baptist Church.
Survivors; his wife, Joyce Ann Williamson Ferebee; a son, Jason Frank Ferebee of Mocksville, 3 grandchildren; and 3 nieces.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Fletcher Lee Ferebee.
The service to celebrate John Frank’s life was on Sunday, May 13, at 3:30 p.m. at the Eatons Baptist Church with Dr. David Gilbreath officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Carl Safley, Maurice Ward, Jeff and Gregg Safley, Doug Barney, Dale Latham, Shane Potts and James Taylor. The family received friends Saturday, May 12, from 6-8:30 p.m. at Davie Funeral Service.
Randell Wayne Tuttle
Mr. Randell Wayne Tuttle, 49, of Advance, died Monday, May 7, 2007, at his home.
He was born in Forsyth County to Lawrence and Betty Martin Tuttle. He was a fisherman and outdoorsman who had a big heart and cared for many. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren dearly and his best friend, Mollie, the family dog. Mr. Tuttle was a proud graduate of Ledford High School and had a love for the automobile business. He was proud of his son Colby’s accomplishments in baseball and loved attending the games.
Mr. Tuttle was preceded in death by his mother.
Survivors: his wife Sherri, of the home; 5 children, Mandy Eudy and husband Jeremy of Stanfield, Cyndi, Austin, and Colby Tuttle of Winston-Salem, and step-daughter Shannon Allen of Charlotte; his father, Lawrence Tuttle and wife Kathy Laird of Lexington; 2 grand-children; a brother Mike Tuttle and wife Phillis of Lexington and their 2children; a step-sister, Debbie Laird Joyner of Mooresville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Nancy McKnight of Mocksville; lifetime friend Greg Willard; and friend and co-worker Hinckley Peleaz.
A 2 p.m. funeral service was be conducted Thursday, May 10, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Revs. Wesley Tuttle and Harry Sammons officiating. Entombment followed at Parklawn Memorial Park.
Macy Hall Fowler
Mrs. Macy Hall Fowler, 80, of 150 Ken Dwiggins Drive, Mocksville, died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
Born Aug. 20, 1926 in Hart County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late William Fleming Hall and Mae Rowland Hall. She was a homemaker and a member of the Red Hat Society.
Survivors: sons, Keith Fowler of Durham, Tim Fowler of Pascagoula, Miss., and Chris Fowler of Lewisville; daughters, Debbie Peterson of Raleigh, Julianne Anderson of Mocksville and Susie Rowsey of Charlotte; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Julian Ira Fowler, and sisters, Ruth Herring, Willie Mae Cordell and Inez Hall.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, May 9 at 2 p.m. at Bio Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ben Coleman officiating. The family received friends prior to the service at the Strickland Funeral Home Hartwell Chapel (Ga.)
Andrew Redmond
Andrew Redmond, 87, of 401 N. Main St., Mocksville died on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
He was born in Wilkes County on May 9, 1920, son of Diley King and Wes Redmond. He grew up in Iredell County where he attended Iredell County Schools. He was employed by Elium Logging. He was also a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He received a Good Conduct Medal, four Bronze Stars, and a Victory Medal.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Redmond.
Survivors: his wife, Beulah Holland Redmond of the home; 5 sons, George Redmond of Woodleaf, Ray (Mollie) Redmond of Harmony, Macco (Sharon) Redmond, Charles (Sylvia) Redmond, and Wesley Redmond, all of Mocksville; and a daughter, Savannah Mayfield of Mocksville.
Funeral service will be Thursday, May 17 at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of Graham Funeral Home. Overseer Ruby Howell will officiate and burial will follow in National Cemetery in Salisbury. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service.

Margie Ruth Everhart
Margie Ruth Menscer Everhart, 67, of County Home Road, Mocksville, died on Friday, May 11, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Born in Iredell County on Nov. 14, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Rex Hayden and Nobie Estelle Pinnix Menscer. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors: her husband, Walter Jackson Everhart; 6 sons, Walter Darren Everhart of Lexington, Daniel Jackson Everhart of the home, James (Kim) Warren and Darin Warren of Charlotte, Scott Warren of Lexington, and Keith (Janell) Abernethy of Hickory; 4 daughters, Paula Abernethy (Robert) Woody of Statesville, Rhonda Abernethy (Steve) Hunt of Daytona Beach, Fla., Tina Marie Cervantes and Lisa Rochelle Everhart of Lexington; a sister, Terry (Ron) Lambeth of Statesville; 17 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Everhart was held on Tuesday, May 15, at 8 p.m. in the Davie Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Steve Ayers officiating. The family receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home.
