Weddings: Week of Oct. 11, 2007

- Marsh-Evans Couple United In Marriage

Alicia Jeanne Marsh of Fairfax, Va. and James Wesley Evans of Mocksville were married on July 22 at 4 p.m. in the courtyard garden of the Cloisters Castle near Baltimore, Md. The Rev. Kevin Martin of Dallas, Texas conducted the ceremony,
The bride is the daughter of Col. and Mrs. Curtis Marsh of Fairfax and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Marsh of Georgetown, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. Orval Morin of Seattle, Wash. She is a 1999 graduate of Woodson High School in Fairfax and a 2003 graduate of Cedarville University in Ohio with a major in psychology. She is a third-year seminary student at Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas.
The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. James H. Evans of Mocksville. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Neil C. Evans and Mrs. Wesley M Inman of Lexington and the late Wesley M. Inman. He graduated from Davie High School in 2000 and from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He is a third year seminary student at Dallas Theological Seminary.
Bridesmaids were Jennifer Bezos and Amanda Isaac of Fairfax. Groomsmen were Preston Lewis of Charlotte, and Bobby Jones of Fairfax. In keeping with the Celtic-themed wedding the groom wore a Jacobite shirt made by the bride, and the minister performed a hand-fasting during the ceremony.
The Celtic music preceding the ceremony featured period instruments. Musicians were Alex Evans, brother of the groom, David Marsh, brother of the bride and Ted Schwab of Fairfax. David Marsh also played the bagpipes immediately before the bridal procession. Alex Evans, pianist, provided the music for the ceremony. Jack Evans, brother of the groom, read the scriptures.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner with dancing in the Cloisters. Decorations included ivy, candles, a miniature castle and coats of arms painted by a friend of the bride. The three-tiered wedding cake was displayed in the chapel in front of the antique stain-glass window.
Immediately after the wedding rehearsal on July 21 the groom’s parents hosted a dinner for all the wedding guests at Barcroft Bible Church in Fairfax. At the bridal couple’s request, the dinner featured Lexington barbeque.
After a honeymoon at Gramercy Mansion Bed and Breakfast in Baltimore, the couple returned to Texas to live in married student housing at Dallas Theological Seminary.

Couple Exchanges Vows At Cody Creek

Donna Jean Blankenship and Matthew Britt Logan were married Aug. 4 at Cody Creek Wedding Chapel in Dobson in a noon ceremony before the Rev. Dr. Charles Hutchens.
Pianist Alice Bruff and soloist Carol Warfford, the bride’s aunts, presented a program of music. The bride is the daughter of Barbara Briggs Blankenship of Midway and Garry James Blankenship of Winston-Salem. Grandparents are Mrs. William S. Briggs of Lexington and the late William S. Briggs, and Mrs. Andrew Blankenship of Walkertown and the late Andrew Blankenship. She is a 2002 graduate of North Davidson High School and a 2006 graduate of The Cosmetology Institute. She is employed at Bangz Hair Studio in Lewisville as a stylist.
The groom is the son of Donna Freeman of Mocksville and David Logan of Pfafftown. Grandparents are Tommy and Fay Boone and A.G. and Betty Logan, all of Pfafftown. He is a 1999 graduate of Cedar Forest Christian School and a 2001 graduate of Forsyth Technical Community College. He is employed at Oracle Packaging of Winston-Salem.
The bride’s parents escorted her. The groom’s father served as best man.
Chad Logan, the groom’s brother of Taylorsville, and Jon Denito of Winston-Salem were ushers.
Sarah Anne Blankenship, the bride’s sister of Lexington, was maid of honor. Megan Meredith of Lexington and Brittany Logan, the groom’s sister of Mocksville, were bridesmaids.
Noelle Warfford, the bride’s cousin, registered guests. Whitney Boger, the groom’s cousin, driected the wedding.
Jayde Bruff, the bride’s cousin, and Madelyn Baity, the groom’s niece, distributed programs.
Taryn Bruff, the bride’s cousin, and Payton Sherrill, the groom’s nephew, distributed birdseed.
After a trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple made their home in Pfafftown.
The bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Depot at Cody Creek following the ceremony. Music was provided by Dale Griggs. The groom’s parents hosted a dinner at the Depot at Cody Creek on Aug. 3.

Stewart-Sain Couple Wed

Lindsay Joy Stewart and Alexander Stephen Sain were united in marriage in an outdoor ceremony at the home of Jason and Ashley Stewart on Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. Performing the ceremony were the Rev. Ken Furches, Michael Sain and the Rev. Paul Stewart.
The bride is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Paul Stewart of Hamptonville. She is a graduate of Wilkes Community College.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Sain of Mocksville. He is a graduate of Fruitland Bible Institute in Hendersonville.
The bride chose her sisters, Karen Rondeau and Sherri Couch, as bridesmaids.
Dean Sain was his brother’s best man and groomsman was Jason Stewart, brother of the bride.
Friends and family enjoyed a covered dish reception and after goodbyes were said, the couple left the wedding on a Model M. John Deere tractor that had belonged to the groom’s great-grandfather, Edgar Sain.
The couple stopped in Tennessee for a couple of days for their honeymoon and then continued their trip to Wyoming, where the groom serves in the ministry at Clearmont Community Church in Clearmont, Wyo. The couple makes their home there.
