But at halftime, when Tabor was in front 12-0, everything pointed to Davie’s astonishing run coming to an end. For starters, Davie’s offense had been rugged, doing nothing on four possessions. Secondly, Tabor came in with a 19-game winning streak. What’s more, Tabor whipped Davie 42-0 last year. But just when it looked like Davie was outclassed, the War Eagles responded with a resounding rally, outscoring Tabor 22-0 in the second half. “We were almost nonexistent offensively in the first half,” coach Todd Bumgarner said. “We didn’t make any adjustments. It wasn’t a lot of hollering and screaming. We just talked about doing better at what we were going to do. We just adjusted some attitudes at halftime, making sure the OL and receivers were on the same page. “In the second half it was like a different team.” Quarterback Adam Smith was 2 of 8 for 26 measly yards in the first half. But the passing-game theatrics cranked up in the second half, with Smith going 5 of 6 for 144 yards.
