Rash Of Injuries Slow Jr. Legion A Mocksville runner dives back to first on a pickoff play. - Photo by James Barringer - The Mocksville Junior Legion baseball team’s Southern Division title aspirations took a major hit last week with a series of injuries. Javan Phillips, one of the team’s centerpieces while batting second and manning shortstop, was lost for the year early last week. “He has shoulder surgery coming up. He’s done for the year,” coach Charles Kurfees said. Phillips is not the only key player with an injury. The list includes Ryan Barneycastle, who has three homers, and Aaron McCleon, a workhorse pitcher and big bat - as well as pitcher Steven Lewis. “Barneycastle twisted his knee at Stanly County,” Kurfees said. “We don’t know how it is. He’s going to the doctor (June 8). McCleon’s elbow is bothering him. Lewis got spiked in the Rowan County game and cut his wrist pretty bad ... subscribe to the Davie County Enterprise Record, P.O.
