Barneycastle, Dyson Strike Big Blows For Jr. Legion

The memorable homers came from Ryan Barneycastle and Matt Dyson.
“When you’re playing that many games back to back and you run out of pitching, we can’t complain,” coach Charles Kurfees said. “I’ll tell you what, we’re not playing any weak teams, either.”
All seven games were played at Rich Park.
• Joe Watson went 3 for 4 and Barneycastle homered and knocked in three runs as Mocksville rallied past Salisbury 9-7. It was the first division game.
• Mocksville faced a 7-0 deficit in a division showdown against Mooresville. All was forgotten when the home team scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a 9-7 win.
Fans were in disbelief when Barneycastle capped the six-run rally with a walk-off homer to left that was fair by five feet. Barneycastle stepped up with two on and one out.
