By Brian Pitts - MINT HILL - Davie needed a machete to take on juggernaut Independence in Friday’s 4-AA quarterfinals. Instead, the visiting War Eagles brought a butter knife.

Illing went for it on fourth-and-12, and Benge found daylight, only to come up two yards short of the stick ... subscribe to the Davie County Enterprise Record, P.O. Box 99, Mocksville, N.C. 27028.
