Cooleemee Supporting Youth Initiative

COOLEEMEE - Town board members here unanimously agreed to partner with and support efforts to organize a volunteer youth initiative for the town.
At the April 15 town meeting organizing volunteers were in attendance to present their idea to the board for a Cooleemee Youth Initiative.
Chuck Taylor, who lives in Cooleemee and is the current director of Davie Big Brothers Big Sisters, told board members he and his wife moved to Cooleemee five years ago. “The house is what brought us to Cooleemee. The community is what causes us to stay.”
Taylor said that he and his wife want to raise their children in Cooleemee and he feels strongly that the community needs to do something more for and with the young people.
He told board members the idea behind starting a youth initiative comes because of the importance of play in developing greater self esteem in children.
Its goals are to focus the knowledge, energy, and resources of Cooleemee’s neighbors, churches, civic groups, scouts, fire department, school, and library to develop and sustain recreational and other enrichment activities that foster the town’s young people; to create programs that shelter young people in the arms of a loving community that instills good character, worth of ... subscribe to the Davie County Enterprise Record, P.O.
