A local woman was found dead in an outbuilding last Wednesday and according to Davie Sheriff Andy Stokes her death is being investigated as a homicide.
Jennifer Jean Wittwer Turner, 54, was discovered Sept. 12, around 10 p.m. Her body was located in an outbuilding on the 35-acre estate she owned with her estranged husband, Kirk Alan Turner, 50, a dentist in Clemmons.
According to an incident report from the Davie County Sheriff’s Office, Mrs. Turner had a cut to the neck causing death and Dr. Turner had a cut to the left leg.
Dr. Turner was taken to Baptist Medical Center, where he remained at the time of this report. Information on his condition was unavailable.
Authorities had responded to the address after a 911 call was received reporting a disturbance.
At a press conference held last Friday, Stokes had little details to share about the ongoing investigation, except that Dr. Turner was a person of interest.
Dr. Turner no longer lived at the Jack Booe Road home, according to court documents filed last June by Mrs. Turner, who was at that time seeking alimony, post separation support, equitable distribution of property, and divorce from bed and board.
Divorce from bed and board is a court authorized separation, but it does not end the marriage. The couple remains married to each other and the court orders the couple to live separate and apart from each other.
Dr. Turner reported a gross monthly income of more than $52,000, according to court papers.
A court order filed last year for post separation support states, “beginning June 16, 2006, the defendant (Dr. Turner) began to pay the plaintiff (Mrs. Turner) the sum of $8,200 per month.”
Additionally, Dr. Turner paid the house payment, utility bills, pest control, some lawn care, and Mrs. Turner’s health and automobile insurance, according to court filings.
Beginning Nov. 1, 2006 Dr. Turner was ordered to pay Mrs. Turner $21,000 a month in post separation support and continue to pay the monthly mortgage of $3,295.95 and provide her medical insurance.
The Turners married Jan. 8, 1984 in Las Vegas and have two grown children.
