A man and his wife are facing felony drug charges after 4.5 pounds of marijuana was found in their Davie home.
Yancy Lee Irwin, 30, of 1301 Ridge Road, Mocksville was arrested Aug. 22 and charged with felony possession of schedule VI controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession with intent to sell/distribute marijuana, and maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for a controlled substance.
According to Davie Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Detective B.E. Diggs, the investigation began with a call from the Winston-Salem Police Department alerting Davie officials of a package of marijuana that was detected at a local UPS warehouse.
“We took possession of the package and did a controlled delivery,” Diggs said.
Diggs reported that in a joint effort by the Mocksville Police Department, Davie Sheriff’s Department, and the W-S Police Department, the package was delivered by an agent to Irwin’s home and he accepted it.
Diggs said that after the package’s delivery, a search warrant was executed at Irwin’s home and more than four pounds of marijuana was found ... subscribe to the Davie County Enterprise Record, P.O. Box 99, Mocksville, N.C. 27028.
