Town Offices Still Open
Friday Deadline For Application

With a deadline of noon Friday to file for the office, a position on the Cooleemee Town Board was still without a candidate on Tuesday afternoon.
In Cooleemee, Mayor John Chandler has filed for re-election, as has board member Carl Smith Jr. Another spot on that board is also open.
In Bermuda Run, Alan “Al” Barnett filed for re-election as District IV council representative. Mayor John Ferguson filed for re-election, and Frank D. Sweeten filed for the District 1 seat.
There will be a primary in District III in Bermuda Run, with John Guglielmi, Maryann Farne and incumbent Howard Futrell seeking the seat. The primary will pick the top two candidates for a November election.
In Mocksville, Mayor Francis W. Slate and board member Buster Cleary filed for re-election, and Lee Rollins has filed for another seat on the board, one now held by Vernon Thompson.
