Sheriff Shoots Wayward Cow

A stand-off between a wayward cow and law enforcement officers lasted more than an hour Sunday before the animal was shot to death.
According to Davie Sheriff Andy Stokes, seven cows were being transported to a market in Turnersburg. “Near Farmington Road one of the calves - the one involved in the four mile chase - kicked the trailer.”
After the cow escaped, the man called 911 and reported it loose near I-40.
Stokes said sheriff’s officers were successful in herding the cow down the interstate from Farmington Road to the US 601 exit. “The deputies involved in herding the animal for four miles did a magnificent job, but the threat of injury was there.”
