Capt. Chris Shuskey, head of the narcotics division in the Davie County Sheriff’s Department, said that most of the drugs in southern Davie were coming from the Cooleemee area, and the Victoria Heights and Foster Road areas in Rowan County.
Investigators turned the cases over to the federal government because those convicted, especially ones with prior convictions, will spend more time behind bars than if tried in state courts, Shuskey said.
“This investigation and indictment demonstrates the positive outcome of cooperation among federal, state and local law enforcement agencies,” said US Attorney Anna Mills Wagoner.
The investigation included the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Sheriff Andy Stokes and the Davie Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff George Wilhelm and the Rowan Sheriff’s Department, the Mocksville Police Department, the Salisbury Police Department and the NC SBI.
Shuskey testified in front of the federal grand jury that handed down the indictments.
