Commissioner Takes Offense In Call For Second Primary

The Davie County Board of Commissioners meeting went mostly as usual Monday.
A Davie High junior, Taylor Anderson, gave the invocation. A World War II veteran, Paul Barney, led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Commissioners heard rezoning requests, approved budget amendments and conducted the county’s business for the month.
And then it came time for public and commissioner comments, and old feuds began to surface.
Carl Humphrey, a Republican nominee for a spot on the board, said now that the state has refused funding for a second Davie High School campus, the county should do what it can to keep the early college and STEM programs.
Robert Wisecarver, who called for a second primary against Wayne Webb for the second Repbublican nomination, re-iterated what he had been saying for months - that people have a right to vote on such large issues. “Don’t skirt ... subscribe to the Davie County Enterprise, P.O.
