Two new school board members were given the oath of office last week.
Carol Livengood, is serving another term, having served from 2002-2008, before leaving to help her mother through health issues.
A proponent of the new high school and helping improve the dropout rate, Livengood said she is looking forward to being back on the board.
“I want to thank everyone … the county, my family … I’m looking forward to coming back and working with everyone on the board. I believe we can all work together for our children. We have faced challenges, and there will be more. Carl [Lambert, former school board member] used to say we can look at a challenge as an opportunity and as a responsibility, and Linda [Barnette, former school board member] lived that.”
Steve Ridenhour, the other new board member, is a lifelong resident of the county and graduated from Davie High in 1972. He said he wants to see the graduation rate increase and believes the right plan for the high school will be accepted by the majority of the county.
“I’m looking forward to working with the other board members ... subscribe to the Davie County Enterprise, P.O. Box 4639, Salisbury, N.C. 28145.
